ROM Welcome Project

Royal Ontario Museum

Location Toronto, Ontario
Status In Progress
Partner Siamak Hariri

The Welcome Project will reconceive and transform how the Royal Ontario Museum greets and interacts with its visitors. It will enhance the ROM’s interior lobby, create a new performance space and develop an urban green space to function as the ROM’s first outdoor gallery. The exterior spaces, designed in collaboration with Landscape Architect Claude Cormier, will revitalize the public promenade, harmonizing the area around the original 1914 building, the Daniel Libeskind Crystal, and the entrance to Philosopher’s Walk. Gardens, informal gathering areas and an outdoor performance space dynamically bring museum content to life outside the building walls. From every approach, visitors will encounter an immersive, interactive and stimulating public realm.
