The PJ Condos

The form of the PJ Condos was inspired by its location on the John Street Cultural Corridor, a long-term initiative to create a pedestrian link from major institutions to the waterfront. Despite the project’s small site, generous space is given to the public realm in the form of wide sidewalks and an open plaza. This plaza relates to the public space across the street at the Pinnacle on Adelaide (also by HPA), with the same amenities and design elements. The 41-storey tower recovers square footage by incrementally increasing the area of the floor plates above. Combined with sculpted sides, an interesting tower shape is created from the resulting angle. The increased floor plates on the upper levels allow the project to include larger units—up to three  bedrooms. The high ratio of solid wall to glass ensures that energy code requirements are exceeded.
