Two St. Thomas

Toronto, ON

The design of Two St. Thomas elegantly integrates the development within its neighbourhood, a dense mix of Victorian-era houses, University of Toronto Gothic collegiate-style buildings, and upscale high-rise residential complexes. Located next to a well-known HPA project, the heritage-listed McKinsey & Company Headquarters, the building comprises two towers of 11 and 26 storeys. It is defined by its horizontal and vertical lines, clad in high-quality, enduring materials such as limestone and precast concrete. Harmonizing with its surroundings through careful consideration of scale and proportion, Two St. Thomas also distinguishes itself with its modern design.

The exterior of the modern 26-storey structure reflects the diversity of the neighbouring buildings, with glass, stone, wood, and copper finishes.

The Podium façade fronting onto Charles Street West reflects the visual language of the HPA designed Mckinsey & Company Headquarters to the west.

The building rises in two distinct volumes that create an urban streetwall at the south end of St. Thomas Street. To the north of the site, an 11-storey podium incorporates the historic University Apartments and 8 St. Thomas. At the St. Thomas and Charles Street West intersection, a 26-storey tower houses the majority of the rental units.

With 251 residential rental units, Two St. Thomas contributes to the urban densification and vertical growth in the Yorkville neighbourhood.
